Primal Broadcaster Firebird setup

This installer includes the supplied Firebird 2.5.3 server setup. In Primal Broadcaster, open Administration > Database and choose “Install Firebird 2.5.3”. Approve the Windows administrator prompt and install Firebird as a Windows service. Then open Windows Services and verify the Firebird service is running.

Configure Administration > Database:
- Server / host: localhost
- Port: 3050
- Database path / alias: a full path on the Firebird server that its service account can access, for example C:\\ProgramData\\PrimalBroadcaster\\station.fdb
- User name: SYSDBA
- Password: the password chosen during Firebird setup
- Enable “Create the database if it does not exist” for a new database

Choose “Test connection”, enable Firebird as the primary station database, and save the settings. On the first successful enable, existing local JSON station data is migrated. JSON snapshots continue to be maintained as backups. For a remote Firebird server, use its host name and a database path interpreted by that server.

The supplied server is Firebird 2.5.3, a legacy release. Firebird 2.5 has reached end of life and no longer receives maintenance from the Firebird Project. Use it only where its legacy compatibility is required, change any default SYSDBA password during setup, and do not expose port 3050 to untrusted networks. A currently supported Firebird release is preferable for new deployments.
